We describe in this paper an attractive alternative for the optimization process of a fuzzy knowledge base, in the framework of our design methodology for fuzzy rule-based systems. This alternative is based on applying a variant of evolutionary algorithms, called bacterial algorithms, developed by Furuhashi [Furuhashi y otros 1995] and colleagues in the last decade of the XX century.
