Abstract

This study is a pedagogical experience developed within the subject Digital Systems 1 of the Degree in Automation and Control of Industrial Processes (Universidad Autónoma de Entre Ríos), oriented and integrating the use of YouTube as a collaborative educational resource for technical training in university: Based on a survey on study habits, its predominance was identified in the class notes along with the complimentary use of YouTube videos which the students consider to be a key tool for understanding theoretical contents. Based on these results, an active learning proposal was designed  incorporating the production of educational videos and written reports as part of a training evaluation of the department. The experience enabled the transformation from the passive consumption of digital contents to a practice with academic authors and curating, strengthening autonomy, conceptual appropriation and collaborative work. The findings confirm the pertinence of integrating audio-visual resources produced by our own students in line with the principles of the flipped classroom and with the international orientations of education such as STEM, TRY Engineering and NGSS standards. Thus, the creation of the institutional YouTube channel of the faculty constitutes an experience that is replicable and promotes a culture of active and  articipationinvolved learning in the university’s technical environment.
