Abstract

This article was part of the opening presentation at the Second International Congress: Childhood, Teacher Training and early childhood  education” of the University Network on Infant Education, organised by the Department of early childhood Education of the Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences of the  UADER (Profesorado de Educación Inicial de la Facultad de Humanidades, Artes y Ciencias  Sociales de la Universidad Autónoma de Entre  Ríos). Here, certain historical questions on inicial  school education in our country are dealt with  through some relevant facts taken from the  Escuela Normal in Paraná. The article includes reflections and hypotheses that emerge from  research carried out on the work of Sara  Eccleston. First, the article will focus on the significance of the concept of “education” in the pedagogy of Fröebel who gave such sustenance to the kindergarten education proposal. This presentation comes within the framework of the Faculty’s Project on post graduate training of inicial school teachers; the programme will begin with a Specialisation before moving on to offer a Master’s. A colloquial writing style was maintained in the writing of this manuscript in keeping with its presentation at the afore-mentioned event.
