Abstract

The City of Concordia in the Entre Rios’ Province has the particular socio-culturally constructed at the crossing daily to the neighboring city of Salto (Uruguay). As part of an ongoing investigation “Cultural consumption and identity on the River Uruguay. The case of the City of Concordia, Entre Rios” and through a socio-anthropological and historical approach, this work is double, first, historicize the origins of the Entre Ríos’ city their links to “culture” and its interrelationships with Salto City, and then, secondly, discuss ways of “doing culture” from specific places of the city’s cultural managements. In this regard, we intend to show and explain the ruptures and continuities in certain local political-economic strategy to “mobilize” the cultural boundaries between the two cities and build a cultural identity concordiense in tension-trade permanent with the neighboring town. Such complexity, making specific characteristics in the present context building new problems in the design and execution of the current cultural policy.
