In this study, we explore the complex process of settlement and colonization in the Patagonian national territories following the "Conquest of the Desert," using a historical-demographic approach. We analyzed data from the second national census
of 1895, which allowed us to create a database for examining various aspects of nuptiality, including marriage calendar, migration, marriage intensity, widowhood, the marriage market, and ethnic endogamy-exogamy. By comparing our findings with those of Ana María Ferreyra’s research on Entre Ríos from the same period, we aim to highlight both similarities and differences in the demographic development of these two regions.
